Hi Bruce
Happy birthsday to you, and many more to come - we honour you for the person that you are, allways kindly and helpfull, great to have you as a friend, it's because of you that we have those lovely instruments to play on
Chris, you asked about some "older" models. Here are my two rigs; the black one on the left is an '08 D-10 w/8&5, and the blue lacquer one on the right is a '76 model (the fourth one Bruce built). Notice the logo is on the opposite end and I believe the mechanism is called "pull/release".
nice dan....the steel and the player look nice. if it's ever convenient i'd like to see that thing upside down (the steel!)
a friend of mine , buford, had a black one from that era. heavier bellcranks and sturdy...really well made, but i can't remember much more about it.
i wonder..were all the models with the zumsteel logo on the peghead end pull/release?

This is the latest Zum addition to the Cox household. This was Hal Rugg's guitar. It was a gift to me from Hal's daughter, Tammy during a visit last week.
This is Joan and her 97. She also has an 82 black one.

I can't stay behind so here is mine. I bought it from Jeff Newman who wrote a very nice article about it. I only wish I could play it like it deserves...
The brown Zum in the picture above was built for a guy named Lee Lessig. I know this because it still has his name on the corner of the case. Somehow Bobby Boggs ended up with it and I bought it from Bobby. It was in perfect mint, unplayed condition when I bought it from Bobby. It plays and sounds as good as it looks.

I have a Zum Volume pedal that I got from Don(RIP) at Scottys that if some one really has to have I'll trade for a Goodrich, I use it everyday, pot is not scratchy. I'm pretty sure Bruce doesn't make them anymore. Don't mean to hijack, thought a Zum fan might want matching pedal. JP

Steve,
I believe this was Tommy Dodd's Zum as shown in W Franco's earlier post.
Tommy added a Stainless? insert on the front apron.
After reviewing Tommy Dodd's listing it appears that I am wrong in my assumptions. But they are both worth a second look.
This was Tommy Dodd's Zum I was referring to. photo is from a listing on the Forum.

That one of W.J Copeland's is a real looker to my eye. All wonderful though!
Jay, Tommy Dodd had a couple of extra front designs left over from the one he used on his guitar. I bought it from him and he sent it directly to Bruce who incorporated it into the front of my guitar. It is chromed, not stainless. I do believe Tommy his sometime last year.
I play mine every day and couldn't be happier! I just put new strings on about every 30 days.
Marvin,
There is no debate here. Check the edits in my post.
The guitar you are referring to is shown in detail
here http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopi ... highlight=, I had forgotten about the two RKR levers on the lower guitar shown above, when making my original post.
Never the less, both guitars are beauties.
