I've long "warned" that this was a long overdue evolution of our instrument. Digital Pianos have become "household" items in the 80's right around when CD's broke into the market. Just like with CD's vs. Vinyl and digital photography vs. film, there where those which swore "it" would never take over, never reach "that" quality and while Vinly has a certain comeback, and so does film photography, adepts of both have to admit that Digital has looooooong surpassed the quality or both mediums.

While digital pitch changing PSGs today may still be somewhat "experimental", I feel that there was nothing in the way to make them surpass pitch quality and tone of top mechanical models even 15 years ago, if the instrument would attract the necessary monies to be invested in it's development.
... and I am not a geek, no fan of "Smart" and still prefer my original JBL D130's and my Sho-Bud Christmas Tree amp over all that modern junk.
