Interesting to read the concert review. He started off wih "Hello Old Friend" that's a good song, and that the mediocre "Wonderful Tonight" was not included in the setlist is also good.

Joachim- He did include Wonderful Tonight. BTW, pedal steel was especially prominent on Hello My Friend

I think that a person's cred as a blues singer increases with age. I didn't buy Clapton's act 30 years ago, but now he seems like the real deal.

Greg's lap steel solo on the Charlotte NC video is near perfect. No extra notes, lots of expression. That's my favorite kind of playing.

I don't like show-offs.

I was thinking no because the reviewer said he didn't play the obvious. Well allright, thanks Gerry.

Agreed. It's the guys like Greg Leisz and Eric Heywood (and Ben Keith before them) who make me love the sound of the PSG.

You didn't think he was good on Layla with the Dominos? At that time, he was a heroin addict in love with another man's wife, and I thought it came out very powerfully in his singing. Maybe I'm talking emotion more than blues singing per se, though.

As far as his concerts, I've probably seen him more times than anyone else I've seen, and he's always great, but it's a legit complaint that he rarely skips the "Lay Down Sallys" of his catalog.

If he's past that lately, that would be a good thing.

I was talking about his blues chops, Tommy. His original rock tunes are another story.

Anyway, sorry for the sidebar. This topic is supposed to be about Greg Leitz, not Eric Clapton. I didn't intend to derail it.

Some good pedal playing on this tune - they let Greg get some tasty licks in!

looks like the Milkman amp has been lowered so that they could put a camera behind Greg... but you can still see it there if you squint :D
