It's either Pete Drake or Tom Morrell :D

Its a bit frantic for Reece who tends to punctuate his playing with more melodic jazz phrases. I hope I'm not proved wrong.

Um... Ken? I hate to break this to ya, pal, but the game is over. Everybody knows the answer now. Go on back up and read the end of the previous page. There's a photo of the Mystery Steeler. Oh! Perhaps you don't recognize the photo, then? That could be the case...

Duh - I hang my head in shame for not being sharp here and reading the previous posts properly. :(

Jim,

Nice website.
I once owned all of those sextet records. Lost them in a divorce.

When you find the time, I have a request. If you have Curly's "Big Hits" record, it would be great to hear him at his finest. Although most of the songs are Country titles, his solo interpretation was pure Jazz. It's a masterpiece and his solo excerpts would work perfectly on your page.

Thanks, Paul. I don't have that particular LP but if someone who does would care to send me a 1-2 min. clip that illustrates his jazz stylings well, I'd be happy to post it. (Now don't all do it at once; shoot me an email first, guys).

And, I just noticed, Paul, that while I have your mugshot in the Rogue's Gallery, I haven't yet put up a sound clip of yours. Care to suggest a particular tune, or shall I pick one, if it's ok with you? (No complete tunes, just excerpts, of course.)

Best,
Jim

Hey, thanks! I didn't even think to check here, duh!

That's about the best excuse I've heard to set up the ol' turntable in a long time. :)

Jim-Darn, I missed the whole thing. I would have liked to check it out. In that Jam picture of me in 1950 above, we were probably playing Perdido right then when the picture was taken. The tenor sax, Baritone sax, trumpet, etc were all swinging, I just laid down the chords and took maybe a chord solo as all the guys were letting it all hang out.

Jim , on another subject, I feel honored that you put my 70 years Video #2 "Moonlight in Vermont" on your Jazz Website, I don't think I really belong there in the company of all those great jazz players. But thanks anyway......al.:):)
