The song was so good that it took 3 people to write it.

Pop culture BS is what american idiot, i mean idol is. They taylor the show to get the maximum rating. Fabricated stars like Carrie Underwood and freaks alike who won in years prior, appeal to the teeny boppers who have been brainwashed into thinking Taylor Swift is an artist.

The production crew screwed up the guitar solo. Had him turned down in the mix and the camera went to him late.

The obvious choice from the "conspiracy" and "the fix is in" theorists, along with the gushing judges, was Adam. And Kris ends up winning the thing.

Oh well, so much for a 21st century edition of game show corruption and scandal.

"Maggie May" is a great song, a true classic, but talk about the term "pitchy?" Rod the Mod was all over the place on that performance.

Maybe I'm easily entertained - I thought the match-ups were really cool, and obviously some thought had gone into them.
Allison with Cyndi Lauper was great -
Kris with Keith Urban seemed right on the money -
Adam with KISS -
Even Danny with Lionel Ritchie worked for me -
and others as well

For those who haven't seen the movie "Quiz Show".

Charles Van Doren Biography

Charles Van Doren is the contestant famous for his fraudulent appearances on the 1950s TV quiz show Twenty-One. In 1959 Van Doren admitted to a House of Representatives committee that he had been "involved, deeply involved, in a deception." Show producers had provided him with answers and had coached him on how to act to milk maximum drama out of his appearances. Though Van Doren said he had told himself he was helping to inspire youngsters, his reputation was ruined, and his name became synonymous with the quiz show scandals of the 1950s. He later became an editor of Encyclopedia Britannica, and wrote books including the 1991 volume A History of Knowledge.

Yeah, Rick, and Congress passed a law after those scandals making it illegal to fix quiz shows, or any show related to it where a contest is involved. Of course, Congress passes laws all the time, and it doesn't seem to stop people from breaking those laws, so I'll grant you that it is within the realm of possibility that the show is rigged.

I would also say that it is possible that there is a certain amount of manipulation involved for the people making money off the show to help steer the thing in the direction of the result they desire.

But imagine yourself a lawyer that wants to prosecute American Idol for illegal goings-on, and you present your case in court based on having a gut feeling or a premonition, and you cite your sources for evidence as coming from internet blogs - it would take all of about five seconds for the judge to bring down his gavel and declare "case dismissed."

Mark,

You are so correct. We are in agreement about that. I don't know that it's rigged, or not. It's just interesting to look at all the opinions and possibilities. One thing is for sure, the show is a huge success for the producers and the sponsors. I suppose the show is the "cash cow" and rightly so. I think they do have to take some liberties to keep it interesting, or it would be just another talent show that probably wouldn't last one season.

Incidentially, I've been in WV this week and the guys there were telling me that the "Suvivor" first season winner has just got released from a local prision there. Evidentially, he was convicted of failing to report his winnings to the IRS. He now goes to a half way house of some sort for awhile.

It's not rigged. Kris won fair and square. His fans voted, plain and simple. Perhaps many young ones, but that's how the show is run by votes no matter how many times.
Kris sang "No boundries" I was embarrassed for him. Our transformer blew in our neighborhood so I didn't hear how Adam did on the song. :(
I voted for Adam because I thought he was the better singer. More voted for Kris.
Kris did a fantastic job with Keith Urban, "I Want To Kiss The Girl" rocked! Do we see or hear a country cd ahead for Kris?

I'm happy for he and Adam and we'll be hearing alot from Danny & Allison! :) I too enjoyed the pairing of artist......great season! :)

How do you know the votes are reported truthfully by the show? How do you know the numbers are not being manipulated by the show to keep certain singers on the show... to keep you coming back, stir up controversy, keep people watching, boost ratings, sell more commercial time, etc...? This has happened many times in years past with TV game shows. After investigating the matter Congress decided not to make any laws regarding network manipulation of the outcome of game shows. They allow the networks to basically police themselves. Just be aware that what you are watching is entertainment, not necessarily reality.

Who cares Doug? You either enjoy it or you don't. No amount of fixing can change that.

So it's okay if the voting is rigged? If I were a fan of this show and I voted along with millions of other people, and the show ignored those votes and selected someone else, I would be a little bothered by that. I would feel like I had be used. On the other hand, it's just television. I guess the show has a right to do whatever they want to do.

So if you and millions of other people vote for someone, and the show chooses to ignore your votes and selects someone else, that would not bother you?
Hey, it's just a popularity contest....it's not really judged on vocal prowess! More people liked one guy than the other......I don't smell an "Oliver Stone" conspiracy film here.

While not a great fan of "Idol", I didn't wholly disagree with the results..........Personally, I prefer the ersatz James Taylor-cum-country wannabe to a painted uber-theatrical screaming banshee, who does substandard renditions of Johnny Cash, Robert Plant and John Kay classics.

....but that's just me!

I doubt it is fixed. I really don't care who wins the show, I just like to watch the performances. Its about entertainment. It has been theorized that Gokeys votes went to Kris and that makes sense. Plus you have alot of people not voting for Adam cause he's gay. Which we can all say shouldn't factor but we know it does.

It doesn't matter who wins on that show anyway. They all have a shot at making it big. Just getting on the show is a win for everyone. Look at Jennifer Hudson. She went on to a great career. And look at Fantasia, if you can find her now. Even though she won, her career isn't that great.

Entertainment is a good thing. Who cares if it's rigged or not.
