Jerry also played steel on Brewer and Shipley's song "Oh, Mommy" which was the flip side to "One Toke Over the Line."
I once talked to Jerry about pedal steel guitars. He didn't think he was that hot either. ;-)

A sign of a "name" musician with some class - not hyping his own talents.

Some pretty good lists have been presented - I'll have to dig some of those up myself. While I agree Garcia wasn't the world's greatest steel player, he had a recognizable style and a unique "snap" to his playing that makes for fun listening.

If we all only listened to the 10 greatest steel players on earth it'd get pretty boring eventually. And nobody would agree about that list either....
