Be forewarned. Although it hasn't happened often, just about any and every time someone has sat in on my steel, when they were finished they would practically toss the picks and bar down between the necks resulting in numerous scratches and bar dings in that beautiful Sho-Bud finish. Needless to say, only the amateurs do it.(The pros knows where the bar goes ..... If it wasn't for them, my Bud would still look like new.

Couldn't you install some kind of "Stone the Crows" switch that would give them a little jolt of 120 volts when you surreptitiously flicked it backstage? Just a little jolt... Of course you'd have to take extra care not to drink too much yourself on those nights....

I always watch my gear closely during breaks. You wanna have a look? With your eyes, but not with your hands, unless I am there...don't touch is the rule for me.

One good thing for the steeler: You'll find enough people who may want to play your regular guitar, but it's unlikely that somebody will approach you who wants to sit in on your steel...unless he is a steeler himself...and steelers don't do that...unless they are drunk...and there are no drunk steelers, right? Kind Regards, Walter

Not always Walter. Kenin Hatton gave me the courtesy of lettin' me put picks and bar to his ZB one night whilst he was at a gig. For this I am very thankful. I got to experience a PSG with different string spacings than my Emmons or Dekley. Of course I treated his guitar as gently as a Faberge Egg. Wouldn't have even thought of setting picks and bar on another's steel. Put them back into their hands. I suppose the sincerity of the steeler has something to do with it. Most any of you forumites could sit at my steel anytime.
[This message was edited by Ray Minich on 04 October 2005 at 06:40 PM.]

OK, Barry, I'm not a pro, but I think like one and believe that pros, among other things, are always learning . . .

Where does the bar go?
[This message was edited by James Cann on 05 October 2005 at 03:56 PM.]
