From Webster:
1 : a succession of syllables, words, or sentences in one unvaried key or pitch
2 : a single unvaried musical tone
3 : a tedious sameness or reiteration
I did find out that one of the selections they play here is a five part story of a guy trapped in a closet because the husband comes home. Very monotone and very monotonous and very, very long.

Ah HAH!!! Sherman my friend, NOW we are getting somewhere. The song you refer to is R. Kelly's "R&B 'opera'", entitled "trapped in a closet".
It's not actally about being trapped in a closet, as you know. It's supposedly a true story about one day when R came home, and a guy was hiding in the closet. R then pulls a handgun and demands to know what happened.
In another part, he comes home, and finds a condom on the bed and finds out that it belonged to a police officer that stopped him on the way there.
I had the displeasure of watching part of the video on more than one occasion. (I can't imagine someone playing it on a stereo; the video is the main focus).
The song is VERY monotonous and repetitive. It uses the same melodies over and over. The singer sings more than one note of course, but trust me that the song is irritating, nonetheless.

Heh heh. 'moronophonic'
.
Sherman, I think that I just figured out what you're talkin' about by 'monotone'. In this very annoying song, R Kelly will sing a phrase in which several words will be enunciated while holding the same pitch.
[This message was edited by Cody Campbell on 28 September 2005 at 07:34 PM.]
