As a song in which Bocephus once took part in stated "Leave them boys alone and let 'em sing their song". I still think Hank Jr's cool and really like his music. But then, I've never had my head stuck in the mud and live in the past wishing for the good old days. H-ll, I even liked the thing he did on CMT with Kid Rock. Maybe I've lived too long guess I'll go to my room and commit

With all respect, Jerry, I think its reasonable to express an opinion on here.

I think Hank Jr. is an indifferent singer, his general musicianship is no more than 'adequate', and he's really only 'famous for being famous'. I have the distinct feeling that he developed a 'chip on his shoulder' as a result of being constantly compared to his Dad, and was determined to write and perform his own material, however lacking it might be.

I find all that 'I did it MY way' stuff a bit tiresome and contrived.

He 'inherited' a career - without that bequest, I doubt that we'd have ever heard of him...

I saw a part of the Hank WIlliams III spot.
The kid is an insult to his grandfather.....

My dog could sing better and it died a few years ago !!

It's a damn shame the GOO and Gaylord has come to this sad state of affairs.

I'm with you, Jerry. I'm not rushing out to buy their CDs, butI think Hanks II and III have had a tough row to hoe, and are doing alright for themselves. How could they ever even touch the original. I think a lot of people have chips on their shoulders against the younger two, and they have had to overcome that just to be accepted as average musicians. It's to their credit that they both have stayed in some kind of country music and found some way to make their own way. Lots of kids run the other way from what their daddies did. My dad was a Mississippi preacher, and I ... well, we won't get into that.

Let's see, there's John Lennon's kid, and Arlo Guthrie, and didn't one of Bob Dylan's kids play music? There's Pam Tillis, and tons of other people in country music with famous relatives. It helps some and hurts some. Then there's that Bush guy, but that's a whole other story.
