Tommy - I think the whole tune came off great. Don can get a little creative in his timing now and then, but I doubt if any "civilians" noticed anything odd. The band recovered well, and you sounded great on that Derby. I'm glad you and Hoot didn't cop what's on the record. I like to hear what different musicians' have to say in a tune, rather then copying. Some licks are so perfect that they become part of the song and should be used as a point of departure(Roy Nichols solo on Working Man Blues comes to mind), but for the most part I like to hear musicians stretch out. With a guy like yourself, with a storehouse of great licks, I much prefer to hear your interpretations.

Wouldn't it be nice ,if once in a while they would feature the staff band? Hoot ain't no slouch when it comes to singing.And the Pickin well I am sure there would be a lot of people gathering around backstage to see that. MHO
