The bar's diameter has a lot to do with the cleanness of the ascending sweep. I have most success when I use a narrower bar with a diameter of 5/8". While a 5/8" diameter bar is not great for every aspect of playing, in pieces where I am improvising or playing a lot of single notes, I opt for it, usually 3 1/4" length to make it easier to lift the bar's tail and cause less fatigue in my left hand.Lee Gauthier wrote: 8 Apr 2025 4:37 pm
Clean "Sweep" speed ascending eludes me with any technique so far and it seems like there is work to do there even from your playing examples, but I really like the sound of what you are getting so far.
