I am so sad to hear this!!! Dixie was very special. I first met her and Del in St. Louis in 1992 when I bought my 1st Mullen guitar. Still have it and they custom built another one in 1997. She wound the pick-up. I worked in their booth so they could go relax or get something to eat. Dixie and Del treated me like one of their own. She was a very special lady and will be greatly missed. My condolences to the entire family

Fly high Dixie.

So Sad to here this about a fine lady. I did not know her or Dell very well but had met them once or twice. I had stopped in their shop passing thru that area long ago and brought a tuner from Dell. Used it for years. And had run into them at different shows around. They are good people. May all the family be blessed. J.R. Rose

I consider my 2020 G2 even more special since it was built during the Dixie era.
I’m sure there is some of her in it. RIP Dixie.

What a nice lady. She was a good one. I only got to talk to her on the phone a couple times but she was always so nice, upbeat and happy and willing to help anyway she could. Sorry for everybody’s loss. Prayers for the family.

Sorry for your families loss. Dixie was such an integral part of Mullen, being Del’s wife. I still have a pickup wound by her and using n a 10 string S-B lap steel. Cherish fond memories til we meet again.

Condolences

Post by Bill Bailey »

I just found this notice. I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I last saw Del and Dixie at the SWSGA in Phoenix when I bought my new Mullen D 10. We go way back to the time when Del was first building steels, he was working out of a small shed at that time, I was on the road promoting his guitars when I met my cousin Terry Cristoferson, who was playing steel for Buck Owens then, I invited Terry to play my Mullen which was a Red White and blue D10, he loved the guitar and I got the two of them together and then Del built Terry a custom guitar, Red White and blue, you all saw it on national TV when Hee Haw was on. God bless the entire Mullen family.
