Ron, some more junk to go with what Farris sent you is on the way. Don't know how long it takes it to make the trip but I sent it on the Big Bird. I lost your email that told me this, but did you tell me that Linkon makes the short Emmons Key heads? On the guitar that I'm building I am using the Sperzel Mini Keys. Trying to keep the guitar as short as possible. I'm so short I have to use stilts to reach from the A pedal to the volume pedal... ha

O.K I almost finished Old Ugly's new cabinet.Take a look guys.Still trying to decide wether I should lacquer finish it or like Per Berner said in another topic oil/wax the cabinet. On this picture I just sanded the inlays so it looks a bit filthy.

The trouble is, nothing says "amateur" like a lacquer finish that isn't absolutely perfect. And it takes a LOT of practice and patience to get a perfect lacquer surface. And sooner or later, it will crack or craze anyway.Nothing says "pro" like buffed out lacquer.
IMHO, nothing says "understated, classy and tasteful elegance" like the satin glow and smooth natural touch of an oil&wax finish. Especially next to a heap of mirror-polished aluminum!

Klaus this cabinet is made out of Hard maple. The American type. This type is harder then his European brother.I got lucky that a shop over here sells it.The wood for this S10 Body cost me $50.Fo'Bro's in America told me that that was a lot less then what builders in America pay for it.The shop that sold me this wood took the measurements and made it the way that I wanted it.
Ron
Per you convinced me.I am going for oil/wax.Never seen a steelguitar with this finish so I might be the first.Makes restoring the body a lot easier to me.And like you said with a lot of mirror polished parts(which I am intending to do)it will look superb.Especially next to a heap of mirror-polished aluminum!

I see! The photo just make it appear very "reddish", and that's what confused me. I'm used to it in a more "yellowish" tone.Klaus this cabinet is made out of Hard maple. The American type.
Great wood
