George Ls are ok, then I went to SIT, and they were good. Now I have used Jagwires for about a year, have never broke a string on my guitar, but did on a LDG, but the strings were old. I change about every 3 weeks or so, or if the string looses sound or sustain. My 3rd string is sounding seak now, so I am changing that 1 string.
I will stay with Jag stainless as they seem to be the best I have tried so fAR, and I like the sound of them.

I'm sold. If you didn't break any for a year, I'm switching.

I was using Cobra Coils and loved them. Guitar Center in Birmingham sold me some D'Addario steel strings for about $5 a pack. So I bought a case of them. Good strings. They sound good, and last a very long time. Certainly worth $5. Image

One more vote for Jagwire stings. I switched to these about 3 months ago, and I don't plan on using anything else. I'm using the nickel silver ones on my Carter U12, and to me the string response seems much more even across the entire range of strings.

Also, another vote for buying from b0b.

I wish that I could get a set of Thomastik-Infeld strings guaged for steel. I tried a set of their Jazz Bebop strings on one of my archtops, and they are phenominal! Very expensive, but worth it IMO. From Vienna, Austria. The workmanship is amazing on these strings. I've never seen, or heard, American strings that could compare.

Webb, I've experienced the nickel wound seem to be more brittle than the steel wound as in "Ernie Ball" brand....

HeyJohn........... Thomastik's are almost like an effect, they are so clear and bell-like. The plain strings almost look gold plated.
I use them on my archtops. Killer.
