There’s a steel guitar made near Nantucket

Instruments, mechanical issues, copedents, techniques, etc.

After decades of playing in bands
With a sound that might best be called "bland"
I read on the forum
That we'd reached a quorum
And decided that "Tone's in the HANDS."

A fellow named Jim, quite respectable
played the steel with a style quite delectible
He has been blessed
As his fans can attest-
He's The Master of Tone that's Acceptable

There once was a steeler named Dave
Who about ZB Custom would rave
Beyond all decorum
On the Steel Guitar Forum
Posting "it has the sound that I crave"

Steeler’s are never alone
In their quest for the ultimate tone
For some it took years
To develop their ears
To ID a push-pull through a cellular phone!

and...

A steel guitar needs to be black
To have “that sound” when country comes back
Don’t waste all your pay
A copy is OK
If it just looks like a duck it’ll quack !

A builder who's surely no dummy,
With whom I'd become rather chummy,
Has paid me a bill
To come here and shill
And tell y'all to go buy a Zummy.

This forum's a real panacea
From your steel pains it'll free ya
But heed what I said
Yer better off Dead
Than mentioning Jerry Garcia!

The subject of tuning came up in a thread
I thought we had put that to bed
You can’t apply science
To this pedalled appliance
Being ‘in tune’ is all in your head !

I'm tired of silly contortions,
And Gibsons hopped up on distortion.
From lead players, most,
long deaf as a post,
And GAC lauds the abortion.

Ahh, the muse is upon me!

One day I shall be all the rage,
With their panties they'll shower the stage.
But I'll wait until later,
for one day I shall cater
To girls of appropriate age.

But now I get "What is that thing,
With the howling, ridiculous ring?"
Some drunk chick, 'round Forty
She says to me "Lordy,
At my place you're welcome a fling."

So at my old axe I shall sit,
And practice this top forty ... stuff.
An eighteen year old,
Is naive, I'm told.
With Rascall Flatts I'll make a hit.

Whoo, I could go on for hours!

Dang it, they won't stop! Get it out of my head!

If I hear it again I shall quit,
And down on their boots I will spit.
"Play Steel Guitar Rag!"
and not "How 'Bout some Hag?"
But If I wanna get paid I will play it.

And my favorite Math Limerick:

[(12+144+20) + 3*(sqrt 4)] / 7 + 5*11 = 9^2 + 0

A Dozen, a Gross, and a Score,
Plus Three times the Square Root of Four.
Divided By Seven,
Plus Five times Eleven.
Is Nine Squared and not a bit more.
