Donny wasn't saying you'd get a Martin or a Gibson for $49, you'll get a "knock-off". BIG difference!!

A modern 10 string would be easier to clone offshore than a Fender 400. Why clone an antique that has no instructional material available for it?

Offshore manufacturers don't develop markets, they hijaak existing markets. There's a much bigger market for an S-10 with modern pulls than for an S-8.
