I've been putting my temple board brand board on top of the pelican case it fits in. I need to lean over a little to reach it but it works fine. I'll take pictures next week when I'm back home.

Richard, you need a little navel jelly and steel wool on those switches or you could have some problems! 8)

This is probably a bit 'corn pone' for you professionals, but it works good for my amateur swill-house gigs. This high-end wooden crate (ahem), and my pedals mounted to a cut-to-fit piece of raised rubber flooring mat. The power wires run under the grids. The pedal "board", volume pedal, black box, cord all drop into the box for carrying in (I'm not a complete bindle stiff, I do have a hard case for all my effects too).
It's the perfect height for my chair. Total cost: a few calories to dig around in my basement.

A banjo, like a pet monkey, seems like a good idea at first.

Here's the Pedal Board rack that I had made by nice-racks.com
Can obviously make this any height and depth.
