I understand that a second LKL can be added, but it wouldn't be a crossover lever.

It's the high third of the E7th chord (with P4 or RKL supplying the B note). It's tuned pretty flat. I really haven't started using it yet, though. Maybe it's superfluous. Image

Bobby-Looks real "Lean and Mean", 44 lbs is real great for a D 12 yet.!

On your C6 , I like the way you have it real well.

Have you thought about raising the 11th string F a whole tone to G on the RR knee lever. That would complete the C7-C9 chord all the way down. Gives a nice 5th bass sound there......al Image Image

I meant P2. P1 was an error.

I'm amazed at you wealthy guys who have multiple guitars. Getting used to one is enough for me. Bill R. sure does make beautiful instruments.

You must like the changeover. It's your second one, isn't it?
[This message was edited by bob grossman on 17 August 2004 at 08:13 AM.]

I sold my D-10 crossover and the back neck parts from my Sierra Session to buy this new crossover, so I wasn't out-of-pocket at all for it. I think Mrs. Lee would have strongly objected to adding a fourth pedal steel to my "collection".

I plan to put the old Sierra Olympic, which is now tuned to C6th, back to the F Diatonic tuning. Our local PBS station has added one of my diatonic tunes to an upcoming fund-raiser CD, and I'll be expected to play it at the release party. That's all the excuse I need to get back into the diatonic tuning.

Al,

I've often felt that there should be a low G in the tuning, but I notice that most C6th players don't have it. So I've avoided it just to try to understand what they know about low strings that I don't.

My changes are all pretty standard by design. Throwing those D strings into the middle of the rack is radical enough without overloading the standard changes, IMHO.

I have the full D9th chord available with P2. I really don't think I need another 9th chord that's only a step away from the one I use most of the time.

And a final point: raising F to G on the lever that raises A to Bb would mess up the Bb-rooted chords. When Bb is the root, that low 5th can be very useful.
[This message was edited by Bobby Lee on 17 August 2004 at 09:48 AM.]

It's ebony stained maple, Bill. It's real pretty - the pictures don't do it justice.

Bobby-Of course you are right. I would not tune that low F to G on the open tuning, there is too much use for the F there.

But If I had an extra knee lever to raise that Low F to G, that would give me some straight line C6 stuff without the F interfering.

It is useful, but I haven't got it on either as I can't waste a knee lever. Love your new D12 Williams Crossover. Sho-Dud tried it with the crossover, then Fender with the PS-210 (which wasn't bad) and now I think the Williams has got it right....al Image

I've taken the new Williams to two Open Hearts rehearsals so far, and I have to say that the amount of sustain is downright disconcerting! I have a part in one song where I sound out 12th fret harmonics. They are ringing for so long on this guitar that I have to use the volume pedal to back them off. Image (I'm not complaining!)

I'm going to use the Sierra S-12 for my Open Hearts gigs this week because I really don't have the the tone+effects thing worked out for this guitar. I'll play it with Manzanita Moon on Friday, though. Any Forum members in the area who want to hear it are welcome to stop by. The gig is at Alder Brook Winery in Healdsburg, 6-8:30 PM.
