Did I ever tell you about my Zum single body universal that we built in 2000? Lightning bolt design, curly mahogany and birdseye maple mica with abalone inlay and matching lightning bolt abalone inlaid pickup ? It's pretty cool. The keyless one is plain rosewood mica.

Well you guys can crow all you want about how "purty" your Zum is, but the fact is, ain't none of you got one like mine. I just took a vote last week and mine was voted the "purtiest". Sorry guys but that's the way it is. Now I know Bruce don't build no ugly guitar, but lets face it, mine sure is purty. I must admit it is older without all the new strips and stars and two tone paint. Neither is it black, oh how can that be???, but it still sounds good. So now to avoid all the confusion, everyone please agree mine is "purtiest"

Bill, first weekend in August, I think we may do friday and saturday with them. I'm not too sure yet, gotta talk to the boss at the gig tonight. But I'll post something under announcements when the time is getting close to update everyone. And if it's as cool as it was in December (and it was HOT!!!) it's gonna be a humdinger. As before, Bill, your first beer will be on me. Ricky will most probably be playing my pristine '72 blonde d-10 Sho-Bud Professional.

Can't wait to get pictures. We've got a real pisser goin on here. I know there are a lot of pretty Zums out there so we will have to bring it to a vote.
Harold, remember, Bruce did build one ugly guitar. It's Jeff Newman's. Then Newman made it uglier. so I guess that makes it a double ugly guitar. Kinda like a double bagger, if you know what I mean.

Yep, you guys are right. That nasty T word is bound to come out sooner or later. I'm just trying to stir up some crap so that it will start stinking to high heaven.
Let's just stay on the "Z" word for now. Come on guys you already have your guitars. Send some pictures. Let's get the ball rollin early. You know I'm gonna vote for mine. HAHAHAHA !!!!!! Sight unseen.

I learned some time ago that looks don't mean much when it comes to steel guitars.what counts is it's TONE...how well it stays in TUNE....and the TOUCH and TECHNIQUE of the individual playing it.This is my personal opinion....do not mean to upset anyone....so continue the controversy over who has the prettiest color combination.

OK. Info on BC's Zum if anybody has it.
Looking at the Pictures on ER's personal page of the BE site, I can see at least one raise middle kl on the C6 in the middle. Others? PF pedal?
What type of Pickups. Looks like a Session 400. Is it?
How much for that puppy? (The Zum)
Somebody get Buddy some GF
He can't be getting old like the rest of us!
Is it a personal choice of the "scene" on the front?
Thanks..
EJL

Buddy's bolt-on changer Zum was made to resemble a Sho-Bud he used to play. Bruce had a picture of it in the shop and just decided it would be neat to try to make one that looked that way. I believe the 'Bud was made from cocobolo which sometimes can show different colors depending on where it was cut from the tree. It isn't really a "mountain scene" as has been suggested before, although it does kinda look like one. Definitely a beautiful guitar, I'd love to hear Buddy play it.

There it is. Mike used the "T" word. And Roger is right, this is to be a fun topic and not a pisser.
Zum's are not only beautiful but the play, stay in tune, and sound great. Listen to Hal Rugg, John Hughey, Tommy Dodd, etc etc I can go on and on with the top players playing Zum's if you'd like.
DID I MENTION THE BUTTER SMOOTH PEDAL AND LEVER ACTION???????????
Jeff
Let's have fun with this and get some pictures comming in here and let the games begin.

Doug, he sounds wonderful on it. The old "mountain" Sho-Bud was sold to a guy in Canada. Buddy told me he figured, "ah, what the heck, they'll make me another one and this guy is offering a lot of dough." Then he found out how much work went into that Bud and when he tried to buy it back the guy tried to gouge him so he just moved on.

If that happened I would be left out cause all I know anything about is volume.
