I talking about one string not the whole tuning here, I feel that there might be more were missing out on If we don't try a new wrinkle every now and then. I do thank you guys for your thoughts on this, as I thought this would be intresting if not entertaining.

Earnest--
it's kinda standard Jimme Crawford with some Paul Franklin added.
Pedals 1-4 Standard Emmons setup + PF change on pedal 4.
LKL Rear--E's to F
LKL Front--G#'s to G
LKV--Low G# to B
LKR Rear--F#'s to G#
2nd string D to E
LKR--2nd string D to C#
Low G# to F#
RKL--E's to D#
RKL Rear--F#'s to G
2nd string D to E
RKR--2nd sring D to D#
9th string D to C#
One of my Emmons guitars has the RKL Rear on pedal 10 (like Jimmie's). The Fessy has nine pedals, so it went up to a knee lever (RKL Rear). Jimmie's setup has the LKV as B's to B Flat and the LKR Rear as 2nd string D to C. Pedal 9 on my Emmons is like Jimmie's, with the high B to C# and the Low B to B Flat.

The LKR's need to be reversed as to front/rear. Other than that, it's right on (though I do have pedal 4 with 5,6, and 10 down a whole tone).

The posts that mentioned Hal Rugg's second string tuned to C# and raised to D and D# made for a nice 'aha effect' here, which was most welcome. Thanks!
Hal's intro to 'What sundown does to you' left me puzzled for many years until recently I found out how to do it. But then my 2nd string is a Eb and I do the D and the C# changes with separate levers, and still couldn't figure out how anybody could play it when these changes are on the same lever. The point is, the half stop doesn't work backward (on releasing the lever). But Hal's halfstop works because it's a raise change. Hope my wording is clear. |

I use the D# to E change a lot so tuning to C# will not work for me. If I tuned to C#, I would need two knees to play E to D#. If I want to play E to D# (2nd string) and E to F# (4th string),I don't have enough Knees. No C pedal!
