I just returned from a 2 month pickin' hiatus. I got home from a gig one night, put all my gear inside, and went to bed. Over the next few days my ears were still ringing from the subs I was sitting near at the gig and I recalled my frustration during the gig. I didn't enjoy myself as much as I would have bc I couldn't hear well. My guitar was in my monitor as much as it could be without clipping and still sound was distorting to the point that to me it sounded like I was a whole tone away from the key the songs were in. This of course wasn't what everyone else heard but it was very frustrating to me. So I decided to just let it sit in the case for a while and figure out what I needed to do to resolve that issue. I was also at a plateau with my playing and knew I needed to take stock of that and start learning some new things. So I wasn't discouraged as much as I was taking stock of what I've been doing and where I want to go. Good break, maybe a little too long but I figured out what I needed to and that's the most important thing.
