Any ideas on how to find/build pedals for old Sho-Bud?

Instruments, mechanical issues, copedents, techniques, etc.

Alan,

sorry about the late reply--I've been caught up with moving from one house to another. I haven't been on the forum for a while.

The guitar is sitting in a box in the garage (I have a small heater in there for when it gets too cold). When the time is right (and I hope it's soon) I intend to string it up as a non-pedal 8 or 10. Can't wait to hear how it sounds.

James Morehead is the man to contact for parts for this guitar.

mike, you should probably see if someone on here might want to trade you a nice working steel that you can start learning on right away for this old sho-bud.
but don't trade for a maverick. make sure it's a pro model of some kind.

I'm open to trades for a working steel--if it is a good-sounding axe. Again, this one needs a lot to be a playable pedal steel again, let's make that clear. Since I play non-pedal I may just string it up as an 8- or 10-string non-pedal. Should sound great, no?

The Jackson's offered a little less than I felt it was worth. I'd love to see them get it if they want it, and I wouldn't dream of charging them an excessive price. But from people I've talked to I feel it has a certain value. Anyway, so far no deal there and I have the space to keep it for now. I presume we are still on good terms if either side changes their mind about their offer. My impression of them remains the same--good honest folks. I've done a some instrument trading in my day and you just never know how things are going to end up.

I have proper pedals for that guitar, in fact I have all three of the pedal versions that may have been used for that guitar originally. The problem is the pedal rack. The casting for that rack is shorter than a normal Sho Bud with endplates. The legs are slightly closer on a cabinet end. I should "have" a spare original cabinet end pedal rack casting but I left it with a machinist/hot rod guy to repair a crack in the casting and the guy has disappeared along with my pedal rack.

Red Bellies, Bigsbys and a lot of other guitars.
