This is the greatist writting board in the world and everybody knows about the " Steel Guitar Forum family " of who's who and all them Nashville who's in charge love eating on this BS about BS and all the BS that goes with this winning the BS of the Music Business Industry. If you are Traditional Country Music Business than your living it.But,if your not playing it as a musician than do something about it. ;-) The God Father of Southern California Country Music Uncle Leo J.Eiffert,Jr.

Hi Joe, It was a great band, Tommy was in the pocket. Sorry to hear of his passing. I was in an accident, two of my fellow employees splattered me into a wall during a "team building" event at work. I haven't worked in fourteen months. I'm picking away at short scale steel and dobro as I work on recovering. My whole left side was stove-up.

I hope you are doing way better than I.

Yes and I'm sure Jimmy Rogers, Ernest Tubbs and Little Roy Wiggins where calling all of you old farts young kids and shaking there heads at youre music too. Just sayin.

I am tired of reading posts on here of all this bashing of new country music. Am I disappointed it happened the way it did? Yes, but I think that it was a long time coming and if you live in glass houses dont throw stones.
Thats all I got to say about that

Peggy, I can't help but ask, what is "team building"? Should steel guitar players avoid this?

When you work a gazillion hours in Silicon Valley they reward you with a Team Building Event. You and your fellow employees ('er your teammates) go somewhere on a workday for a day of fun and games. But you are always also grouped into "teams" and you are also always competing.

Now this is supposed to foster relationships, show people at ease having fun outside of work.

The worst "team" members I've seen over the years were management. And the higher the level - the worse. The absolute worst I experienced was the CFO in a startup.

They call us human resources...we are being stripped and mined IMO

I agree Quentin! I think these artist that have steel players are aware of the steel forum. They hear and read what is said and I'm glad Blake took a stand. He mentioned he should have worded it differently.

His management should hire a wrangler for his mouth...that being said I'll agree with Kevin and say that country ain't country no more.I know i'm relatively young at the ripe old age of 40,when I want to hear country music I'll listen to George Jones and George Strait. When I want to hear Rock I'll listen to Motley Crue or Joe Walsh. When I want to get rowdy I'll listen to Waylon and Bocephus. When I want to listen to something less suitable for my ears....I listen to....whatever they are calling country music these days. Maybe it should be called COUNTY music because it taint quite growed up yet. Yes Theresa I know your brother makes a good living playing sessions for these folks...that don't mean I have to like it.....It is just a bad re-hash of what Alabama did....I know it sells downloads. BTW I do buy music Blake-ie-poo....just not YOUR music....

Dustin,
Freedom of speech and buying music you like is what this country is all about. You have the right to your opinion just like Blake and the rest of us. I do like MY music!

Come on in the old farts waters fine..Takes a while to become one but when you become one think about the ones who did not make it to old fart level... It's been over 10-12 years since I bought any music,..I'm content to play the thousands of songs I have colected over the many years it took me to become an old fart..I couldn't name many songs that have become collectables in the last say ten years or so..Nor can I remember many of the new and soon gone "T" shirt Cowboys who have not only changed the music but the Image of stardom..I'm not content to be a spectator having made a living in music as a musician sans singer, I'm qualified to speak as one,But in the end It's just an opinion which nowadays means What???Same goes for Blakes opinion..But certainly he is qualified to render it..

There's an old saying:"It's best to keep your mouth shut, and let people think you're stupid, then to open it and remove all doubts!!!"

Here's another:"A closed mouth gathers no feet!!!" :P

The Dixie Chics are a perfect example of someone who should have kept their mouths shut. Look where they are today. Went from the top, straight to the bottom. People spoke with their wallets and look what happened. They got exactly what they deserved IMO...
Been at this damn thing for a few years now. Not so sure that I'm getting anywhere but it is fun. Sometimes.

Yes! He is the VOICE,But,not the money. When he starts using his own money and not others he'll change his tune before it kills his career, or maybe not. ;-) Uncle Leo J.Eiffert,Jr.
