Lloyd Green asked me to post this for him:
<blockquote>"Actually, I was already living in Nashville in March, 1957 when I first recorded with George Jones on this discussed album. I was working in the road band with Faron Young, having moved here a few months earlier just after I turned 19.
We recorded two songs with Jones and two duets with George and Virginia Spurlock.
The first time Jones sang “Too Much Water Running Under the Bridge” at the Opry I was standing on the side of the stage (playing with Faron and Patsy Cline that night) and watched Emmons play my solo from the record. Of course he aced it and when he finished he looked over and gave me one of those “make you feel like a million” smiles….And it did!”
The players on the Mercury Records session I cut for this album were none of whom have been mentioned. They were:
Elec. guit. – Hank Garland
Steel Guit. – Lloyd Green
Bass _ “Strollin’” Tom Prichard
Fiddle -“Shorty” Lavender
Drums - T. Tommy Cutrer
Piano - Marvin Hughes

Here is Starday as of two weeks ago. I’ve been trying to document historic Nashville country music sites before they go away – Mom Upchurch’s – Little Darlin’ – Sho-Bud factories, etc. Many years ago – before Starday finally closed – Tommy Hill gave me the 50 cent tour. All I can say is - the room had a heavy vibe:

That photo brings back memories.....The first Nashville session I attended was in that studio by Pete Drake's invitation in the late 60's.....It was the first time I saw Buddy Harmon, Junior Huskey, Pig Robbins, Johnny Gimble, Dave Kirby, and Ray Edenton play....Needless to say that experience stands out. Also the same week Dad took me over to RCA studios and asked if there was a session we could watch and they let us in......Buddy Emmons was on the date with full back ground voices....It was a much larger room and it was surreal to me because it looked exactly like all of the the photos I had seen on the backs of LP's....It felt like I had stepped into a dream.
