Rick-I just read Jody's "The Frets of My Life". It sure hits home, doesn't it.

Jody is not only a great Musician, and Steel Guitaist, but also a Great Writer. I hope that he keeps on for many, many years to come........al Image Image

Jody's "FRETS" is a great read with lots of meaningful, heart-tugging emotion, and strikes a chord for those still in the first octave as well as for those of us already beyond the 12th fret.

The frets are a lot closer together for me than I would like, but on balance, it's not all that bad being up there in "Hugheyland".

I have just read the Frets of Life and all I can say it that Jody Carver has more compassion than anyone my husband and myself have ever met. Only Jody could express himself as he did with much eloquence.
When I think of class, I think of Jody Carver
We pray that you live a long and happy life, your website is a gift that you deserve
with much thanks to Mr. Rick Alexander.

Lisa & Greg We Love You Jody. When you read Jody's book You will read the words of one of the nicest human beings in the world.

God Bless You Jody.
[This message was edited by Greg Sullivan on 22 July 2005 at 03:12 AM.]

Thanks you Lisa and Greg and to my buddy Joey
I get emotional when I read the words I wrote. When I read my words of the "Frets Of My Life", it brings me back to another place and another time. I'm pleased that you enjoyed a part of my life. However it makes me sad that Marilyn is not with me to see this. Its as though it was not me, as like in a dream. Then I woke up.

Thanks so much.

Jody.

I think I have just about all Jody’s available recordings and am looking forward to his book also. Thanks to many facts that where told to me by Jody about Fender Guitars, occasionally I am also able to pass on some info. to other inquiring persons. Jody has been a major contributer to the world of steel~guitar, and deserves to be Bumped-Up, to the top! Oops!

I spent about an hour one morning going through all the links that originated here.
It's a great history, all taken in together.
Listening to the Hot Club sounds--I remember what steel guitar was now.
It's amazing how much Jody has had to do with popular music. Amazing. I was a kid, I didn't know....

I think this is great, Rick. To see the photos, to see how it all ties in together.

I recommend you visit the site and go through the whole thing.

Yep, pretty girls, different in a way that I can't quite figure out....

But did you see those steels?!
What I like is how the steel player used to be at the front of the stage. What happened? Do I need a Fender endorsement or what!?

Maybe just fancier clothes.

Do I need a Fender endorsement or what!? (NO)

Jody Carver was a pioneer for Fender during the early years, long before Fender became what they are today. Jody was also an endorser of Fender and one of Fenders top salesman. The Fender photo was made for promtional purposes for the Fender Catalogue.
There is much history about Jody that is not on his website,it would take up too much bandwith to tell the story.
I didnt know Jody back then, he's a fine guy
and still plays steel now and then, but he is
for the most part retired from active playing
He spends most of his time writing and helping a friend Sandy Miller (who is one of the gals on his web site)do a cd.Its all over the Forum, the title is "The Time Of A Sands Gone By".

Dan, I was just kidding as I always am (hard to tell on the internet). I endorse Fender, not the other way around (I don't think they know me).
But I've gotten to know Jody over the forum and through email in the last few weeks, and I think he's the coolest.

No, it takes talent to get to where he is; not the clothes (it may get looks from the chicks, but that's about all); not even the guitars. They come later.

I've read your name in association with him.
I count myself fortunate to be one now.
(IF I can get my $*^%&*# computer to copy a disc, I've got a Jo Stafford collection that I'm going to send to him.) Meanwhile, I can't wait to meet Sandy thru her cd.
"No, I get the first one!" "No, I want it!"
It can't be bad with Jody's backing.

Hey 'Shiny-Faced Boy,'
I just read the article following your appearance on the Arthur Godfrey show, from the Rick's link on the first page.
Did Godfrey play his uke with you during your week-long gig on tv? Seems he was famous for doing that.

Fender Fine Electric Instrument Company: those were the days, my friend; we thought they'd never end until CBS came along.

I continue to find interesting links here; more history than imaginable.

Did Godfrey play his uke with me?? Yes he did Charlie.I did the usual weekly show after the talent scouts show and then I went back
later on and did a few more appearances with
Godfrey on his Wednesday Night Show. Arthur Godfrey and his Friends. My face is not shiny any more ha Image That was long before CBS made the aqquisition of Fender and Yes,
Those were the good old days, Thanks for asking.
I sure wished I could turn back the time.

The only time machine I have is my record player.
I figured Arthur wouldn't be able to resist 'jamming' with you. ("Hey, I used to play with Jody Carver!")
He was a kind old sort, from a kind old time.
