I'd rather play with a bass player who can't sing,knows he can't sing and doesn't than one who can't,thinks he can and does. Otherwise if the gig calls for a singing bass player,you should simply hire a singing bass player.

Given the choice, I agree. I guess I'm spoiled because we have a few outstanding bass players here who sing. I also play bass and sing. I was trained in jazz drumming when I was young, so I never saw it as a problem (counter rythms). I don't see why people don't put in the effort to improve themselves. I've walked out of bands with bad bass players and drummers. Waste of time.
