Knowing of his precarious condition, the Hawaii Music Awards team had planned to go up north to Wahiawa today and present him with the Lifetime Award early to make sure he knew. Unfortunately, with all their good intentions, it was not meant to be....

They will do a nice music memorial tribute to him at the Awards ceremony, at which I will participate. If any forumites can be at the dinner, please do make the attempt.

There were also in the pipeline other recognitions for him in May to represent the Rogers family, but I only have the little detail he was able to give me on the phone a couple of weeks back.

I am working with his family and friends on a script for the DVD and should therefore be able to post a tribute on "Gone Home". However, let this not preclude any others who may wish to post.

That first video with Ron is a good example of the Rogers style. Another player who many folks here know is Herbert Hanawahine, who also plays in the Rogers style. He has a CD out that's well worth hearing.

The young girl in the still picture in the first video is Emily Abrigo, who is 12 years old and an up-coming singer in the style of Genoa Keave (sp) She just gets better all the time.

Lanet Abrigo asked me to post this / her written message:

".....If you would be willing to email, or post it where you feel it would be seen, that would be a great blessing for the family:"

------------

Aloha,

Uncle Ronald Kanahele passed in peace at our home on March 9th, 2011. We were extremely blessed and honored to have the privilege of caring for him in his last days on this earth. He wants us all to remember him as he was, filled with music and aloha, as he joins the big kanikapila in the sky.

Uncle Ronald's family is raising funds for his services. If you would like to make a contribution, please send donations to his sister, Laverne Kanahele P.O. Box 461, Aiea, HI 96701. For other than monetary donations, you may call her at (808) 218-3229.

Always With Aloha,
Lanet and the Abrigo 'Ohana
*Please feel free to pass this message along.

Thank you, Denny. We were waiting for the announcement from the family.

Work on the DVD has been continuing and is in very good hands. Uncle Ronald's versions of "Moana Chimes" will be the background/theme of the DVD. Wish to to thank Dave Kolars and Ron Simpson for their video contributions.
