The steel guitar part is incredible. I'm not sure if it was Little Roy Wiggins or Jerry Byrd, but it's some the best bar finesse I've ever heard.

Gotta smile at the "kids"..

I listen to Willie's Place, Outlaw Country and The Roadhouse..

Sometimes like Mojo says, "I gotta pull off the road..."

In couple hours I heard the REAL Billy Joe Shaver sing Chunk of Coal, Carlene Carter, the gal that really put... in Country Music do I Fell in Love, and her latest, Faron Young, Bill Anderson with "It's My Life", the ONLY song I really liked of his, about three Willie songs with Jimmy Day on Steel, some Carl Smith with Charleton, Ray Price with that renegade Buddy Emmons doing Night Life with the studio guys switching the Leslie, Jeannie Seely with Half a Mind and I think BC on steel, Hank III, SHooter Jennings, Buck Owens, Jimmy DIckens, Leonard Sipes, ET & the TTs, HW and the DCs, HT & The RRBs, HS& his RRBs, Robbie Fulks Dale Watson, Wayne Hancock, Cowboy Jack, THE TIME JUMPERS with Dawn Sears and John Hughey, (no kidding), Eliz Cook,...

You get the idea.

I have NO interest in "top 40 country" as I've heard it in the last 30 years.

I've always said that after Lloyd and Bruce on the mid 80s Ricky Scaggs albums, up to Lloyd on AJs "Remember When", there's been some nice sound effects on some catchy tunes but......

Give me my XM any day.

REAL music.

Keep selling it.

I'll keep buying it.

My soul can't afford the free crap on FM..

WOW, that may be one of the most absurd things I've ever read.
I don't think there is any partisan correlation between materialism and emotional songs.
Toby Kieth writes and sings some of the most materialistic songs I've ever heard on the radio, and he constantly claims to be a Democrat.

So it ain't about politics!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Duh...Alvin, one question, did you vote for Bush? I rest my case.

Sorry Bob, I shouldn't have responded to the first trolling bait post and certainly won't respond to the second one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe Billy Robinson played on that one.

I listened to another straight day's worth today.

The best part was the Roadhouse Bill Anderson spot on Hank Snow. He played a bunch of his songs in todo and interviewed his son, and CW McCall and a few others. What a man. Always was a favorite.

Other than that I caught a BUNCH of Wille with Jimmy Day, and a KNOCKED OUT version of Kansas City Blues by Wayne Hancock. The STEEL was AMAZING. I'm a Wayne Fan, except for the "fight club thing" and I read somewhere that Bob Hofnar is in his "touring band". Way to go Bob. Stay down when the chairs start flying..

Miss Leslie got a bunch of plays presumably with Dicky Overbay and Marcia Ball, (Freda), and TONS of old Faron, Ray, Lyle, Merle, Emmylou.... There's always some cut I promise to remember or artist, but I just don't have time to write them down.

I'd really like to get a playlist if they have them and post one.

I ALSO neglected to mention the ONE FM-AM guy that I've REALLY liked out of this last decade, and that's Brad Paisley. Not just his music, novelty cuts, and Viciously Great Pedal Steel by Randle (sp?), but the way he treats, and actually says the player's NAMES. You'd think he'd not get away with that on FM-AM/Wolf. Well he doesn't. They play about one percent of the 'most commercial' stuff he's done in the last 10 years... I don't know why he's been poisoned from "good country" XM, but I'd like to hear a lot more of him on there. I'm sure he's on the more commercial XM channels, and I'll have to go cruising for it tomorrow.

You know XM does have The Highway, for the Shania Taylor Chesney Flatts crowd. Nothing wrong with that if that's what you're into..

Maybe we can get Brad to "defect"..

I pay for CDs that I like, like the last three Dale Watson CDs, SHooter Jennings latest, Lucinda Williams, and a great Joe Maphis Set.

I don't object at all to paying for XM.

I figure it's paying for the demise of the syndicated crap..

I might even double up on the next payment..

:)

... as far as satellite radio is concerned.

This morning I heard Miss Leslie (and Ricky Davis) doing the title cut "Wrong Is What I Do Best" on Sirius-XM "Willie's Place" channel. Can't beat that.

My car came with 6 months of free Sirius and I'm enjoying those stations as well and of course the bluegrass station next door. Also, if you spin the dial a bit further you can listen to big band, old radio serials and even books! Who knows, I might just pay to continue the service.
