The old FAKE books we used in the 60's were illegal,had to buy them on the black market,can't remember how much they were,I think about fifty bucks,a lot of money in the early 60's,each page would have 5or 6 songs with a simple lead line,chords,and words,if you could read fairly well you could improvise over the lead lines,they were a big help if you were a lounge lizard.
