We ALL know we're gonna be enraged, inflamed, whatever, by these shows. They are not designed for us! Why bother watching? It's like going to a football game, already knowing that your team is gonna lose by 50 points. Well, not quite right. You can show SUPPORT for your team. But the only "country" teams I support have at least one person on the "dead" list.
Watch Oprah...
Would the CMA be better off changing their logo to the RMA? Seems like a lot of sign changing... I remember years ago at a CMA after party I was grabbing a scotch and water and talking to Hank Thompson. When I walked away a man and his wife supposedly CMA members from LA, asked me who the man was I was talking to? I knew the music was in trouble right then and there..I resisted the temptation to tell them it was Charlie Pride. :lol How come the CMA hasn,t in a long while inducted any women into the HOF? or Long over due Gene Watson..
I thought that while the sound was better than usual, the instruments were turned up, most of the vocals were buried.. and in some cases that was a good thing.
I liked the show, even tho it's a politically motivated thing. Every suit in the audience stood up and applauded for every artist. I wonder why!
Bantars were everywhere, as were new listeners to country radio and music buyers.
I was amazed that Lazy Antebellum won... since they only had one song released, twice.
While I totally adore Linda Davis, her kid... so far is only a fair back up singer. I look for way better stuff from her.
I agree that most of it was rock oriented..but I still dig it, it's music, it's what WE do.
While I didn't like the Kid Rock number, he has a tune on his new cd, mostly written by a friend of mine that I may be working for in 2009, and it's a killer tune! If it brings new listeners to the fold, I am all for it.
I really don't care what they call it, it's music!
Bring back the Compton Brothers with Rockin Razzy Bailey and you'll know why Conway Twitty was to Dic Go for the CMA years ago. But now ,it's all here in todays music. I think Otis Redding would be a Country Super Star today. Even with the ACM. LJ
I forgot Emmy Lou got in and what a putrid way to honor inductees as "Oh by the way". But I was thinking of Names that will never come up now because of waning popularity and age and having been too Country.. Like Rose Maddox,Jean Shepard,Wanda Jackson.
