Stan,
I'm sorry but I just can't help myself.
I am SO proud of this guitar I could just spit!
I am very fortunate to have been able to purchase it from its previous owner in Canada. He had it custom built by Rains.
It even has doves inlaid on the fretboards in mother-of-pearl.

Bought my RAINS in 2005 and I liked it immediately. I wanted to change it just a little to suit me. I called Gary Carpenter and he let me come to his shop in Ft Worth on my way to Arizona. He completely rebuilt the guitar and adjusted it exactly the way I wanted it. Let me tell you, I thought it was good before, wow. Now it is undoubetely the finest steel I have ever owned or played in the thirty years I have been playing. On top of thet, Gary is one fine gentleman and a extremely fine player. Thanks to RAINS and Gary:D

Here is a couple pics of my latest Rains. Mark Giles did the wood work including the fret boards.

Bob, that guitar really does look great. Having seen and heard Dave's guitar I'm a bit of a Rains fan too. During a jam session a month or two back I must admit to being blown away by the tone Dave achieved using his Rains and a Fender Steel King. Yes, Dave's technique/tone is awesome, but that guitar and amp combination was a killer to my ears.

When I saw Mark Giles ebony inlaid fretboards last year in St Louis I got excited and ordered the guitar. It plays and sounds as good as it looks. Gary Carpenter has really gotten it together over at Rains. The pictures were taken at an NYC studio called Sear Sound. I was tracking some steel for a new Liberty Mutual ad.

I would love to have a new Rains, they are great guitars, and while I don't have a Rains I do have a Carp Bar. I don't know why there is not more mention of them on the forum, they are very good bars. Gary does fine work, and plays great too.
