Huge mahalo's to Hal, Keoki, Andy, Jeff and the SGF for these priceless gifts.

Andy, please hold off on pulling part 1 as I'm just about to archive it for myself.
[This message was edited by Ron Whitfield on 24 June 2006 at 03:49 PM.]

Thanks Jeff!

Question:

Hal says ..."And I think in the latter part, the Ab (sic) is lowered and and the E is also lowered to Eb to make a 9th tuning."

That doesn't make any sense to me. Seems that he meant to say in using the A6th tuning to get a 9th chord you lower the E string to D# (or Eb) to get the B11 tuning (but the A remains A natural, the dominant 7th of B).

Agreed?

I agree Bill. I was confused on that one too, so I added that "sic" thing... whatever that means. Hehe.

Yah Jeff, you did a great job on that. I can just hear Billy talking as I read your transcript. I still have that old tape and often listen to it.

Thanks Andy and Jeff. There's nothing like hearing a great old master who's played so many years and the music is so natural and smooth.

I found myself thinking about these Billy Hew Len transcriptions and remembered...

quote:
Hal is interested in making this material freely available and I'm working with him on the best way to digitize it, release it, and make it available for just the costs involved. More info as this develops.

Has anything yet "developed"? I hope it's still in the works. I'm looking forward to hearing more.
