I wouldn't be surprised if Anna Nicole Smith didn't get awarded posthumously for her contributions.
Yes, and there will be awards for Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Ritchie, and those idiots on that Idle show. For Significant Contributions to the Decline of Western Civilization.

Question

Post by kyle reid »

Anyone know who the ACM staff band steel player was back when the show started? or maybe a few years later? It must have been a West Coast player?

Working musicians don't get credit on those shows, the winners are little more than American Idol creations for the most part. And they are certainly not country. Presenting them as country artists destroys the history and credibility of the real artists who slave away for a musical style that they love, only to get buried by bad rock musicians. It sucks.

Chris LeDrew wrote:The operative word here is "country". Whoever constitutes the real meaning of this genre is probably living out of a van, playing mid-size venues and subsisting on a diet of hamburgers and gas station sandwiches. These awards have nothing to do with country. They just serve to drive the real country artists further and further down the totem pole by re-defining the genre through a corporate lie.
WOW! Chris I couldn't have said it better myself.
Nashville needs a good enema.

Concert

Post by Marlin Smoot »

Just saw the Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban concert tonight in Denver. It really rocked. Even the music between the set change was rocking. The production of the shows were amazing. The concert was really loud too. Lots of energy from the artists and the crowd. I think Carrie Underwood is up for an ACM award (not really sure)... but that girl can sing. I understand she cut "How Great Thou Art" and I would love to hear it.

Gregg, Megan & I were at the Opry and got pictures with her. I think it was her second appearance.
She did "Stand By Your Man" along with "Jesus Take The Wheel".
Carrie's young and has alot to learn, ya know it's about management.
You can't take her range of singing ability away from her. I think she can sing anything! :)

I'm glad I voted for her on American Idol! :)

Hey Brett Day,you're right about Jay Dee Maness winner Steel Guitar from the ACM. 1970,1971,1974,1975,1976,1980,1982,1983,1986,1987,1988,1989,1990,1992,1993 and you said in 2000.So that makes 16 times with your number 2000. It's to bad they didn't get Big money with those awards. Leo J.Eiffert,jr.
