Here's another. I have this one on cd, but seeing and hearing her sing it live is just spine-tingling.

Beautiful melody, wonderful singer and musicians, passionate delivery, simple arrangement.....

There are many lessons to be learned here.

The droning of the pipes is an art form! You have to be able to blow and suck at the same time [ ha ha] no really, thats how they have that constant pedal tone, its very beautiful, and is an old tradition of our native islands. :)

Although I have both Scottish and Welsh ancestors, I can only understand a small scattering of Gaelic, but I understand a fair amount of Welsh.

The music from the Celtic fringe in beautiful. I would steer clear of calling it Celtic music, though. The Ancient Celts have been so diffused over the centuries with Saxon and Norman blood. The country with the biggest proportion of Celtic blood right now is France. Remember that the Ancient Gauls were Celts. The bagpipes and harps are played all over Europe and beyond. In reality, there's very little difference between Irish, Scottish, English and Welsh folk music, and many of the same songs and melodies are found in all of those cultures.
