Once again Michael, you have the most supreme archives in the land! Thanks for posting those ads from the past. Think of the diverse players that have utilized the Gibson Byrdland-Anthony Wilson to Ted Nugent (really not my cuppa tea but good taste in guitars),just a brilliant design from the start.
BTW Jimmy Bruno cites the "Jazz Winds" recording as one of his major influences.

FWIW: According the FaceBook page of "Owen Bradleys' Quonset Hut" the Garland family did NOT like the movie even though they worked with the producers on it. To paraphrase: they felt "stabbed in the back". That should tell you something. But I should add that I haven't seen the movie, just passing along some info.

I just finished watching my NetFlix copy of the movie Crazy and have given it to Jack Stoner to watch.
Now I'd like to hear his side of it as he knew more of him than I did.
I didn't know much his life other than knowing he was a great guitar player who lived his last few years about 100 miles south of me here in Florida.
I was dissapointed with the movie in that it seemed to spend most of the time about his love life and little about the music.
I found the best part of the movie was the background music during the movie.
I did learn some facts I wasn't aware of.
I did go to Wikipedia to verify a lot to check out the facts though.

I watched the movie last evening (Thanks Don). It doesn't seem to go along with stories that Little Roy Wiggns told about their days together with Eddy Arnold. He was not a "socializer" and Roy said on the road he would stay in the hotel room practicing with the guitar rather than go out somewhere and visit or party with the rest of the band.
The car "accident" is a gray area and many, including his family think as it was portrayed in the move that it was no "accident".
Obviously a typical Hollywood movie with mostly dramatics rather than actual facts. However, if it were just actual facts it would have been a lot different and probably never made into a movie.
David Frizzel is working with Hollywood producers and writers on a movie about his brother Lefty. I'm afraid that it will probably deteriorate to the same type of story line. (Merle Haggard has agreed to do the Lefty singing in the movie, whenever it does become a reality).

Has anyone heard the live recordings from the Carousel Club that are included in the cd box available on Hank's website??? How's the quality on those and how many live tracks there are??
Here's a pretty cool clip of Hank soloing with the Jordanaires:

double cutaway
On the cover of "The Golden Guitar Of Billy Byrd" there is a Byrdland with a double cutaway. Is it a one of a kind?
