Because they are Flash video they will have to be converted to Avi or Mpeg and so on .
Vdownloader converts to avi or mpeg as it's savin it so there's no need for another program to convert it later.

Ok, so before I waste another DVD disk please tell me if I am doing this right, in order to watch the movies on my DVD player that's hooked up to the TV...
The users manual for my DVD says that the player will play DVD-R format.

Ok...so if I have a program that converts the youtube vids from Flash to DVD-R, I should be ok?

Andy? Dean? I appreciate it.

This part of computing has proven to be the most frustrating for me...
Thanks,
Bent

Bent, you must first convert the flv video to MPEG2,
then use a dvd maker....here is a free one

John, it doesn't say in my manual that my player will play the MPEG2 format.

It states: Fully compatible with: DVD,DVD-R, RW, +RW,SVCD, VCD,CD, R, -RW etc, MP3, HDCD. Nothing about MPEG2...

Dean, I think you might be able to address my problem here.

Bent, I downloaded the dvd maker, you can use the youtube file as it is , open the program click add and go to where the files are, you can import as many as you need until the dvd would be full, it will then burn to the dvd without you converting the files. a very easy program to use.

I must be extra dense...
You are now saying I don't need to convert the files to play them on my Tv DVD player?
Are you saying that it will play the flash format?

He DIDN'T say that, what he said is there plainly to be read !!

You don't need to convert the files to load them into the program for burning DVD's.

The program does it all for you..

Bent, download the videos with Vdownloader which will convert them to either avi or mpeg from the flash format, then use the program that John linked to to burn your DVD.

I hear you loud and clear basilh!!
If you care to look back and read what I asked originally...
I can't see where that question has been answered yet.

I asked: How do I make my home DVD player play these files? It tells me that it will play the DVD-R and so on. It does not say it can play the MPEG2.
What I need clarification for is:
This download and conversion program, will it convert the flash format to the DVD-R format?

Bent, Mpeg2 are what makes DVD , you have all the tools to make a DVD, your player will play VCD which is MPEG1.and dvd is MPEG2
you only need to downlosd the youtube files and put them into the DVD maker, you can get just over 4 gigabytes of video on a DVD. the whole operation should take a few minutes to do , it will take a bit longer for the dvd maker to convert and burn the files to DVD, it alls depends on how many files you put on the dvd.
Bent I do this every day in the studio with far more sophisticated programs then dvd maker, I do know what I'm talking about....

John, thanks. Finally you got it through my head what all these acronyms meant. I appreciate your patience.
I don't doubt for one minute that you know what you're talking about.
However, if it appeared that I did, I sincerely apologize.

That's what is great about this forum. You learn from the best.
The catch, I guess, is when I, an amateur, word my questions a bit wrong.
Thanks again.

Thanks a million for the sarcasm Bent, My answer was also self evident if YOU had understood what you now say you understand..
Don't bother to apologize to me even though I also know what I'm talking about..
