vocal

Is it OK to send an original song that includes and based on a vocal part(with lyrics)? Thanks.

I don't encourage it, but if it features your steel guitar I think we can live with it.

It didn't stop you, Alan. :whoa:

Seriously, I've been more interested in getting submissions than making value judgments about what should or should not be allowed. Nobody is going to like everything on the CD. You can edit your MP3 playlist accordingly.

My only hard and fast rule is that it should be original music that features your steel guitar.

I guess I asked for that one, and kind of expected it. The yodelling at the end was a joke and I expected you to erase it. The grunts are not really vocals; more an expression of passion. ;-) :D

Tell it to Tom Waits.
Waits has a distinctive voice, described by critic Daniel Durchholz as sounding "like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car."(Wikepedia)

That sounds about right. :D

I have one, but it needs a little more work, so I doubt I'll make it before others do. It would have to be posted from the UK, which probably takes a week to get to the West Coast.

Chris: I'm a Brit, resident in California for 31 years. If you email me the number to afbrookes@aol.com I'll be happy to burn it onto CD and forward it to Bobby Lee for you.

Yes, the post has become a real problem lately. I have parcels that were sent to me from Hattons in Liverpool back in November which still haven't arrived. Customs are opening every package.

I shall be in Birmingham for my annual trip home during late February/March. I've been a member of the Ffestiniog Railway Society for 40 years, so I visit North Wales once a year.

When I was a kid we took our holidays in Barry Island every year, so I'm very familiar with the Cardiff neighbourhood.

Alan, you are too kind. I may take you up on your generous offer.

You've strengthened my resolve to send something, though it will be Sunday at the earliest as I have to go to Paris tomorrow for the day job, arriving back in Cardiff just after England play Wales in the first of the Six Nations rugby matches. Should be fun at the station.

California sounds very appealing, especially after the winter we have had here. I went back home to N Ireland and had no running water for a week, with daytime temperatures barely rising above -10Β°C. Not what we are used to.

Thanks again, and if I can finish the recording to my satisfaction, I'll send it to you.

Chris

P.S. Barry Island is now famous nationally because of the BBC sitcom, Gavin and Stacey.

Two more days gone by, and we still need two more songs to complete the CD.

Gospel songs?

B0b are Gospel songs allowed, or do you want strictly secular music?

Forget your stupid football game -- find your steel and get some tracks to b0b. Two more original steel instrumentals and he'll be good to go with Members' Showcase CD, Volume One.

I have sent my contribution to Alan Brookes, who kindly offered to burn it on to a CD for me and mail it to b0b. Not sure if I'll be in the first 50 though.

Chris

P.S. Is there some sort sporting event taking place in the US today? :)

I have finished the backing track, but I need a couple of evenings to record the PSG. I hope I will be in time.

I've burnt Chris Tweed's number onto a CD and will be mailing it to you tomorrow.

How many copies of the CD are you planning on making ?

We have 2 known submissions in the mail (Chris Tweed and Daniel Jones), so we have all we need now. I'll start working on the master disk as soon as they arrive.

If anyone else has sent a CD submission that I haven't acknowledged here, please let me know right away.
