This season has been over for weeks and you might as well just quit watching. That Adam guy has it sewn up.
Also with the new American Idol $$$$judges veto$$$$ it has become so tainted that it really is no longer in the hands of the public. Idol is a billion$ a year business. They put that rule in so that they could be assured of not having another Taylor Hicks year where the winner makes them no money, which by the way is what the show is all about. Now they can make sure the person that they see as being the biggest cash cow wins for sure.
Mark it down. Adam is the cash cow. He has the look, and the boths sides sex appeal (guys and girls) and is hipper then any of the rest of them combined and besides that, I have a $100 bet on him to win so it must go my way or not at all.
Oh by the way, he sings better than all of them combined. He has a lot of experience doing theatre work. He is a natural when it comes to acting the part.
PS. I had not seen it, so I went to Youtube and watched the "Ring of Fire" video.....wow!! You saw three judges that looked like dogs watching TV when they tried to critique it. Randy actually "got" it. This guy Adam..the rest of the cash "calves" better hope they dredge something up that disqualifies him.
Game over.

Adam is obviously the odds-on favorite, but I thought he missed something on his version of "Play That Funky Music." It was too much about the vocal gymnastics and the big arrangement. At least that's the way it struck me. I can't quite place my finger on it, so I guess it comes down to the saying, "writing about music is like dancing about architecture." He missed the mark on something about that song - maybe the word I'm looking for is irony ?
I told my wife last night that if he went back to 1976 for that song, I would like to have heard him go back farther and his take on something like "Running Scared" by Roy Orbison.
The new rule will only come into play when there about three people remaining to prevent another Taylor "Hick-up," anything before that would be for temporarily saving mediocrity from its eventual, deserved demise.

You are looking at it way to much from the eye of a musician. The public and the judges want all that vocal riffing gymnastic mess. They equate that with good singing.Mark Eaton wrote:Adam is obviously the odds-on favorite, but I thought he missed something on his version of "Play That Funky Music." I like the "Hick-up" thing. I am sure he is a nice enough fellow, but he is zero big money for Idol moguls compared to Underwood. They won't ever let that happen again.

well I agree with Mark and hope Bill is wrong. Adam may very well win but he will not sell records.
I though that the Adam song last night was over the top and all the judges missed his comment about the arrangement, it came from Ricky the band leader, I have been under the impression that the singers were supposed to come up with an original song concept, Danny stated that he took the original song and put his style into it and they commented, Adam actually said it was Ricky's arrangement and they let it fly.
Maybe the fix is in after all, I hope not, I don't like the Adam guy at all. Which is the real Adam ? The one who looks like KD Lang or the one with the sideways hair ? Which Adam comes on the stage ? Why isn't he just being the sideways hair dude anymore ? Too radical of a look ? Tonight he will be the sideways hair dude. I can't take that high pitch thing he does, it's annoying, not singing.
My wife thinks that after that horrendous Johnny Cash event ( I did get it and didn't like it ) a few weeks back someone pulled him aside and told him he had better leave the extreme look and performances back stage if he plans on continuing. We both think that on his own merit, sideways hair, radical look etc, he will get to the end but at that point he will not have enough fans to carry him across the finish line.
Tattoo girl and Scott the Piano man are not long for the show. She stinks and he can't really sing. One if them goes home tonight is my take, probably Tattoo girl.

They said it one of the previous weeks shows.Bill Hatcher wrote:That makes good sense, but I could not find anything on the net that substantiated this. Where did you get this info?Brian Kurlychek wrote:They can only use the power save move until the top 5. After that, they can't.

Adam Lambert demo reel on Youtube. You don't have to like him or his style or his hair or whatever, you just have to listen to what he can do and how marketable he is. He is the perfect winner for the Idol grind to be perfomed on him by the Idol slavemasters.
Beside that, he can sing AND act. None of the others have his experience or his skill.

So Bill, you are going to buy his CD ? I actually don't think Adam is that good, I don't like that high sceetching. I don't like his look and I will not buy his CD !
I would buy a Gokie CD and I have bought Underwood CD's.
I do agree that Adam has appeal to a segment, young, wild etc, but he does not appeal to all segements, like me, old and falling asleep in front of the TV !
It doesn't mean he will not be the next Idol , he may very well be. But I hope you are wrong.

I voted for David A. not for David Cook last season. I was very disappointed with Cook's new single and singing last night. But, his CD did go platinum.
I have a feeling David A. would have too! And.....then some.....
Anyway, time will tell about the remaining contestants. I'd buy Danny's CD, not Adam's. I'm just happy to watch every week!

David A has sold almost the same amount of CD's as David C, they are both so called Platinum now.
Billboard 100 stats are just over 900K, for Davic C, which is just shy of Platinum. Whats crazy is this is the number of CD's reprted as sent to distributors, not necessarily sold retail. David C's Cd has been out 19 weeks and is now at #78 , the wrong direction. David A isn't even on the chart. But the good news is that Lady Ga Ga or whatever , whoever she is, is # 7 ! Oh and Soul Patrol isn't on the charts either. Clarkson is #3.

No I would not buy his CD. I do not remember the last new artist CD I bought.
I am just pointing out the guy who has the most marketing appeal for the Idol Moguls. Has nothing to do with whether I like him or not or his singing or his looks. That is the mentality of the business folks who produce the CDs for folks to "waste" their money on. They could care less about the artist, just about the sales.
I buy CDs at yard sales and off used sites like 1/2.Com.
I hate the Idol show/phenom, but I watch it with my wife and son because they enjoy it and I don't want to spoil it for them with my jaded opinions. I only watch the top 10 competition. I do admit to enjoy seeing the kids do a good job. Can't imagine how much pressure they are under to be one week working menial jobs and the next week in front of the whole world singing. I cannot watch them humiliate those kids in the earlier stages. They are going to have one go postal one of these years you wait and see!

Adam is not the best singer, but he probably will win.
I find him to be quite simplistic , not much range other than that falsetto thing he does. I don't hear any emotion in his voice. last night, next to the red haired gal and Danny, he was a nothing, no soul.
For my taste, this is between Danny and the red haired gal. They are actually singers , not actors pretending to be singers.
After Adam wins, Gokie will still sell more records.
that's all I got !
