I have about a dozen parcels on their way to me from England, some posted as long as three weeks ago. What with the Christmas backlog and the blanket of ice over Northern Europe, everything is disrupted right now.
Basil, if you would like to email the composition, I would be glad to burn it to CD and submit it to Bobby Lee. He's local here in California.

It's not too late, Bill. I expect that it will take another couple of weeks to reach 50 submissions.

Original steel guitar instrumentals are what we want, Bill. Got one? Style doesn't matter - whatever you'd like. There will probably be a Volume 2, so you'll have a second chance.

Bill, when b0b says "original steel guitar instrumentals" he means numbers that you've composed yourself or made up as you went along, and so avoiding copyright infringement. An original steel guitar instrumental of Lovesick Blues, for instance, wouldn't be any use: nor would songs in the public domain such as Old Joe Clark.

Thanks, I've got one I'll get it recorded by next week. It's a song that I made up from a 5 year old kid that got scared from a storm coming his way and he looked up at his Mom and said Call Jesus. From that I made a song on the Steel, so I'll use that one.
Thanks

I'll probably get flamed for asking a stupid question: does the definition of steel guitar extend to dobros or other forms of resonator guitars?

I would assume that as long as it was an "original" tune, that should be fine. I would cast my vote as a yes, allow them, but it would be b0b's call as to the final say so.

bOb said "steel guitar," not pedal steel. (Although a steel guitar without pedals is like a car without wheels, in my opinion!)
I give music lessons on several different instruments in Cambridge, NY (between Bennington, VT and Albany, NY). But my true love is pedal steel. I've been obsessed with steel since 1972; don't know anything I'd rather talk about... www.barryhyman.com

It's a showcase for members of the Forum, so it should showcase the subjects of the Forum, which includes Pedal Steel, Non-Pedal Steel, Acoustic Hawaiians and Resonators.
