A whole new ERA for the Sho-Bud

The new Multi-Kord better stick with the cables, Ferris. You just can't get that sound with pedal rods. I'll tell you this: if they go to rods instead of cables, they'll be CRAP. I won't be buying one.

In all seriousness, I think we should welcome David Jackson and his new guitars back into the steel community. It's great that the pedal steel market is strong enough to support new products.

The legacy of the original MSA wasn't harmed by the Millenium, and the legacy of the original Sho-Buds will not be harmed by the Jackson guitars. People who love old instruments will continue to buy, restore and play old instruments.

Myself, I'm a "shiny new" kind of guy. I can't wait to see this new Jackson guitar. Anyone know when it will be coming out?

Word has it that the new Multi-Kord will use "rigid cables", which are the best of both worlds! They'll be stiffer than 1/4" stainless steel rods, yet more flexible than sewing thread.

(That's what allows them to have a center-activated changer.)

On a serious note, I can recall a time about 50 years ago when a Multi-Kord was my dream guitar, one like this...

I figured if I had one of these, I could play just about anything. They made 'em for almost 30 years and sold thousands of 'em. Pity they weren't just a little bit better made.

There are lots of great steel guitars out there, enough that you can buy the one that fits you.
I have played a Marrs and let me tell you there can be no better, maby just as good.
I have played Zums, several, there can be no better, some just as good, also, Franklins, get the picture, lots of great guitars that can not be surpassed, just matched for quality and playability.

Here is the kicker I traded for a Sho-bud pro 1 that was a basket case, sent it to Leon Roberts, he has found the right Alum, to make the parts from, that when used the guitar sounds better than anything else you can put on it, yes the right metal is where the sound is.
Leon refinished this bud and put all his parts under it, the guitar was so beautiful I almost cried when I saw it from the bottom, the parts were the best I have ever seen. turned it over and the finish is so great I began to shake, I could not play it I was so nervious.
Loaded the guitar and went to Bluntstown to play the Jimmy Powel show, I have never been nervious before at a show but the first set I was like, I cannot do this work of art justice, by the second set It was easier, this is the most beautiful guitar I have ever seen, It looks like the blue Darlin, Ricky I think I will call it blue darlin 2. The sustain I hit a note and let it ring, It held for so long I looked up at Leon and finally just laid my hand on the strings and smiled.
I plan to be at the Saluda show you can come and see and play the best sounding bud out there and see for yourself.
Stephen you can just bet I will be there with the Blue Darlin 2, if the creeks don't rise. Thanks for inviting me, Linda will be there to add her great sounding voice.
I think the secret of sound in steel guitars is the parts they are made from, AND the love in which they are built.

Leon told us yesterday I did not pay nearly what it cost him to build this bud, that it was a labour of LOVE. THANKS LEON ROBERTS, ALBERT JOHNSON AND DANNA FLOOD, for the best guitar I have ever set at to play.

Also Albert Johnson buit me a case for it that is second to none, also a case for my Professional D 10, when it gets back from John Coop. And John coop is another story I may cover at a later date, here is a man dedicated to make better shobud parts, that will live forever.

Yes Ernie, I agree with you. There are so many fine guitars out there, and they are all great. A guy like me has to pick one deal, 'cause I can't afford to own them all. HA! Your new guitar is pure beauty, Leon laid his talented hands upon it! John Coop will have mine done soon, I am very excited!
I believe there is room for everybody who wants to build a guitar. I also believe not everyone likes only a certain guitar. If that were the case, everyone would drive the same model car, the same color, ect. People find the goods that please them the best, and it's no different with steel guitars. I believe Jackson guitars will be very accepted, too.

James , John has my 1973 The Professional, doing a complete job, on it as did Leon.
I will let you know how they compare when it comes home. I talked to John and he says the 3rd week of November, my Birthday is 22nd, could be a birthday present, ha.
When will he be thru with yours?

Just got it tonight from the horses mouth,comming the end of year,a new Jackson STEEL, and i have already placed my order.

Good call Mark!!!OK,after over 35yrs.dealing with Harry Jackson,and complete trust in the whole Family.
I don't know nothing about certain features about the new JACKSON STEELS.But will be able to play one soon!!!And i love Laquer guitars,and will be able to get pretty wood.
We will see whats comming soon!!!!!

Mark,i based my descision on the people!!
I know their past history,and Harry tells me they got some very interesting features on the new Jackson steels.
also i can play one the first of year,and if i don;t like it,not obligated at all!!!
But i do want to get my order in at once,so i placed it last night.
They are GONNA BE KILLERS I KNOW ALREADY.

I'm with Farris on this one. If Harry Jackson tells you something, you can take it to the bank. I've done a lot of dealing in past years with Harry, and you won't find a more honest man. Harry and family was also selective in the people that they had working with them. One example is Paul Franklin Sr. Enough said.

Yeah Steve,

Along with Paul Franklin Sr., I believe Zane Beck also worked for Sho~Bud. (History buffs: am I right?).

I'm anxiously awaiting the first production Jackson Steel to come into existance.

I admire Farris' faith in ordering a guitar sight unseen from David. If I was in the market (and had the bucks), I would probably do it also. I would also buy one sight unseen from Joe Kline (used to have one) and Zane Beck (ZB style only - did not like the BMI) if he were still alive.

I know i love my OLD SHO-BUDS GOT 2 professionals and a early pro 1,if it gets any better WOW WOW!!!
Sad part i'm gonna have to sell off some old buds to raise the money to buy one!!!!

Farris.......... If you need to sell a d-10, I'll take that black lacquer professional off your hands and give it a good home. I'll keep it all original too. Hope you can keep em all though but if not, call me first on that black one.
