Fantastic playing by everyone on the site. I first got a chance to listen to you Vernon on youtube back in Feb. of this year when you were playing "Birth Of The Blues" Great job on "Misty" by Charles Tilley. I get a great deal of encouragement from all the players here on the website....it helps me to focus more on learning a lot about steel guitar. Thanks to everyone.

Vern-I heard your new song and Tilley's too. Both very good. Where do you guys get such a nice backup band? Sure makes it sound nice. Charles "Misty" was a favorite of mine and he had a nice guitar solo on it too....keep it up guys...My download time is so long almost a half hour to a song, that I just cant get to them all. I have heard it is real quick with Satellite. We cant get it here yet....al.Smile

Charles Tilley- Thanks for putting up my August new song on your website, "Can't help Lovin that Gal(Man) of Mine", by Jerome Kern..
I got this from an old "Practice" tape cassette, made about 1991.

I am hoping to record one that I am trying out now with Band in a Box backup, for my September one. This will be the first one I did with Band in a Box. Finally. I hope I don't mess it up too much...al.SmileSmile

I listened to a few more Russ Tkac, Vern Hester and both sound good to me. Russ had a unusual different sound on his, was it a dobro or what?

I see my good friend Fred Welch has posted a song for the First Time and about time.. "In the Garden" and it is beautiful rendition on his MSA S12 Universal which he bought new in the 70's. Fred is keeping busy playing in Michigan here, 2 or 3 times a week.

Take listen to this song on Charles Tilley's site. Fred did a fine job on the whole recording. Way to go...al.SmileSmile

Beautiful job on that song Fred....MSA does have the softest mellow sound to them. Everybody take a listen to some fantastic playin by Austin Stewart on his version of "Juke Box Charlie" that fellow knows how to play steel guitar.

Very nice Peter. Great touch. You sure get a wonderful tone out of your guitar.
Charles, once again thank you for giving us steel pickers a place to be heard.

Charles Tilley put one of my songs on his website. I recorded this one in 1951 with a original 6 pedal Gibson 1942 Electra-Harp with the full cabinet. they made about 12 of these and discontinued for WWII and never went back in production on that model. It had a multi-Kord type changer on it.
The song is an old Duke Ellington tune called "In My Solitude". Back in those days, we had no Reverb, Delay, and effects of that sort, so the Sound is not comparable to the great sounds of today.
I have two others of Dukes, "Mood Indigo", "Sophisticated Lady", that I taped back then, but poor quality tape.
I am hearing some great sounds on Tilley's site thanks to him.....al.SmileSmile
