This book must date from the early to mid-1970's, though I can't find any date on it. The full-color cover has a photo of a thin, intense-looking young man sitting behind a Sho-Bud on the Opry stage, staring into space.
I found the book again in with a bunch of fiddle books I had stored away. I didn't realize that my interest in PSG went back so far. Perhaps there are Sho-Bud fans who would be interested in this. It is in absolutely mint condition. 43 pages, and it seems to be directed at three pedals and one lever, E9th tuning. It includes a lot instructional material and the tabs for four songs: "I'll Be All Smiles Tonight," "Danny Boy" (two versions), and "Honky Tonk Angels." No mention as to who the author might be.
The original price was $7.50. Even then psg materials were expensive. That must be about five times that amount today.
If there is any interest, I'd like to trade it rather than get involved with selling it. I'd like to get a copy of Don Helm's book on playing Hank Williams materials, or perhaps some Jerry Byrd materials (I already have his "It Was A Trip").
Let me know if there is any interest.

Doug: Thanks for the information. Jeff sure looks intense. My copy has no copyright date printed anywhere. Inside the front cover is blank, as is inside the back cover.
I must have gotten this copy in '74 or '75. I was teaching guitar in a music store, and the store started selling Sho-Bud steels about that time, and I probably bought it, and Winnie Winston's book, then out of curiousity. Probably a reprinted cover and they forgot to add the copyright information to the inside. The outside of the back cover has string gauges for E9th, C6th, and D9th, and a list of string sizes available from Sho-Bud. It also mentions a "Special Instruction Record Album" to help you "...get the NASHVILLE SOUNDS..." I ownder if anyone ever bought the album?

DC -
That Sho-Bud album is probably Neil Flanz's instructional LP w/ runs, licks, endings, etc. FF. |

Hi Dennis,
I'd like to get this simply because my Dad gave it to me as a birthday present long ago and I can't find it. I have all kinds of stuff that we could trade or I would even buy it if we could settle on a value you are happy with.
Thanx,
TW |

This Sho-Bud book was a great beginner's resource 'back in the day.'
The Booklet came with its own record, the size of a 45 rpm, but played at 33 1/3 rpm. |
