You can add George "Keoki" to that list of canuks. George is a fine player and a hell of a teacher. He has that Hawaiian stuff down to a "T". Add a fine guy to that mix and
you have "George "Keoki" Lake" a pro.

Hi from the Walkerton area. I'm still pretty new to playing steel (about six months) but I really enjoy reading all the stories. Have learnt alot from the discussions. I don't know of any players in my area, but maybe someone will also post and I could get a few lessons from them.

No, I'm not Canadiene, but since you fellows are all sitting on the same wire right now, here's a question. Who's the fellow who works as a car dealer, from Toronto I believe? Plays a Carter. I had a nice visit with him at the ISGC and I did not get his name.

I'm in too.

Steve, the only Canadian car (Chrysler) dealership owner I know who attended the ISGC last year was Mel Aucoin (a great country piano player [who canalso play steel]...in fact he sat in on my set.

The other Can. steeler in the car business (Ford) that was in attendance was Clair Abrams.

Both are nice guys!
Keep Steelin!

Yep, count me in. I am a Canadian Carter player, same as a couple of the fellows Greg Simmons mentioned.

My uncle Andy Goertzen is a steel picker, too, though not a member of this forum.

I was born and raised in Winnipeg and truly admire the great Ron Halldorson. One of the finest players bar none!!. Also, Wayne Link plays real fine and has really been dedicated to promoting the steel guitar in Canada.

Hey, Jody, throw in the fact that you used to play along the Yonge Street strip and, sure, you qualify as an honorary, er, make that an honourary Canadian (gotta get those Canadian spellings right, eh?).
