What am I doing watching this show?!? I am a Rock player into guitars and keyboards, but there I am watching this show. Why?

Well, it's that pedal steel. The thing just grabs me somehow, and I'm sure everyone here knows what I mean.

It turns out it is forumite Dave Ristrim that is currently doing the proxy representing of all you players and the instrument. I don't even know if Dave is bad, good, great, or God! But I like it. So there. I may have even missed an episode of Friends!

As Les Paul said, there are only 2 kinds of music; Good and Bad. Steel is good.

I am blushing. Sometimes I don't know if I'm good, bad, or ugly... But I just want to have fun and working on that show is a blast. This next episode, I get to play banjo too. I hope I remember how.
Later,

How much lead time do you get to work up arrangements? I know the format of the show precludes much in the way of solos, but it seens as though playing several new songs every week would drastically increase the chance of clams.

I just watched it 'cause there was a steel player.....and at times, you could actually hear it. Sounded great Dave. They should turn you up and lower some of the vocalists.
(But that's just my opinion).

Hi guys. The show runs each Saturday night at 8 o central time. As far as time to work up arrangments, we meet with the contestants on Tues. and Wendnes. for a few hours and shorten their songs and decide the style they want. Run through them a few times and that's it. We do also run the show on the set from top to bottom a few times to get all the camera angles and timing for the live show. As more contestants are bumped off the show, the band should get more camera time, but it's not my call. Remember, this show is about the singers, not the band. Oh well...sigh...
