I saw him play a great set at Chubby Howard's show last October in Fairborn, OH. I'm no expert, but I thought he was fantastic and very entertaining.

He was on the same show as Herby, Hughey, Mike Sigler and Jerry Brightman. Pretty tough to stand out in that crowd.

Rusty is a great player. Good chops and lightning fast. Great with ballads too. I played steel at Tootsies in Nashville a year or so ago and Rusty was playing a Telecaster. A week or so later I walked into another club and he was playing steel. I didn't even know he played steel till then. A well kept secret he is.

Johan. I know Rusty very well, and he is a very talented musician. Rusty was playing things on steel guitar at the age of 18 that a lot of us might only hope to accomplish after several years!

Rusty is a great player. I ran into Rusty at an audition here in Huntsville a couple of months ago. It had been 10 years since I had seen him, and I did'nt recognize him until he started playing. He played some amazing blues guitar style riffs on the C6th. He was playing an old MSA that had some huge scratches along the front, but he made that thing speak. I wonder if that MSA belonged to Norm Frazier from Kalamazoo Michigan? Norm did not like using a case for his steel. He used to stand it up in the back of his pickup all set up and ready to go. One day he took off a little too fast, and his brand new MSA rolled out and hit the pavement. It was not a pretty sight to see...
