I am starting the new year experimenting with a new tuning that I concocted. From high to low:
G-E-C-D-B-G-D-B-G-D
This is a G6th tuning but configured with a "C" major triad on the first 3 strings. The rest is G major with the low 5th on the bottom which facilitates fingerstyle playing.
To get my relative minors I lower the B's a half tone with a knee lever.
I have a Bud Isaacs pedal that lowers the B's and G's a full and half tone together. In other words there is no "split". It is amazing the eveness of the change with it all on one pedal. It provides a "nuance" that reminded me of the original pedal sound of Bud Isaacs.
Some may be interested in hearing how this
country style fingerpickin' sounds with pedals.

I got several emails today asking if my sound file was steel with guitar accompanyment or if I was playing two parts at once?
It is one pass.
Steel Guitar can stand alone.

| Ok Roy that made my head spin. I though you overdubed to get that sound, wow! Now hea is my question can I learn to do that on a stadard E9th tuning? I am guessing not. I have done somthing close to that but much easyer with a open E tuning on my dobro.heh I never sounded like more than one player |

On the Pedal Steel Pages here on the Forum, there is a "Thumb Pickin' ShortTake" which provides a good way to get started on E9th.
I plan on dropping my top neck to D9th.in the near future with heavier guage strings. This should enhance the fingerstyle sound while keeping the standard country sounds in the mix.
