I had a funny thing happen on sunday. I was at a show in a rich surburban Connecticut community center where Buddy Cage was playing a gig. After the show the obligatory ex hippies gone corporate that wander up to talk about Garcia while Buddy packs up where all asking about Robert Randolph.
Robert is tapping into something that is touching a lot of people very deeply.

| How refreshing. This is the first review of Randolph I've read that didn't, at some point, refer the pedal steel guitar as usually associated with "weepy country music" or some similar put down of traditional pedal steel guitar. My hat's off to this reviewer for recognizing Randolph's talent in its own light and not feeling compelled to throw in a gratuitous slap and the rest of the steel guitar world. |

| In case it already hasn't been mentioned, the latest issue(Sept.2001) of Esquire(!) has a little piece on Robert, with a nice picture of him sitting at his guitar in front of the church. |

Today's Newark star Ledger reports that Robert and The Family Band will be recording a 'Live' album at The Wetlands Club in lower Manhatten on August 23,next Thurs. Tickets are $15.
Should be a hot one, The Wetlands nickname is 'The Sweatglands'

| Just read today that the Wetlands will be closing on Sept. 15, Robert will play two sets starting at 11PM, alittle late for me, but I'm sure it will be packed. |

Due to all of the comotion on this site, I recently purchased 6 different Sacred Steelers CDs, and I have one question.
Whose job was it to tell these gentlemen that if they play the Steel guitar, they are required to pump that A pedal. We'll have to fire that person because these guys play super hot Blues, Gospel,and Jazz without that Country sound.
Bad humor attempt aside, when is Robert coming to Atlanta? He is hot. |

Hey Robert,
You can hear some pretty hot Sacred Steel playing right around where you live. Just get out the phone book and look for a 'House of God' church and go by around 11am on a Sunday morning. One of my favorite young Sacred Steel players, Dante Harmon, lives in Atlanta. He plays the first cut on the latest Sacred Steel CD.
Seriously, any church players know where Dante or other great young players are playing around Atlanta? Darrick Campbell, one of the masters of the lap steel, lives in Macon, but he has been on the road a lot this summer with the Campbell Brothers. With all respect for what Robert Randolph is doing in the clubs, I have been most knocked out by listening to this music in church.

Ok Robert, I just heard from Dante. His church is having a revival all week, and you can hear him and others play at the House of God Church,
3099 Rockbridge Rd. in Avondale Estates, GA. He told me that he played last night with Josh Taylor, one of the hottest young musicians I have ever heard.
