I'd like to introduce for your perusal a guitar stool, made by an old friend and song-writing buddy in Kerrville, Texas. This is not a steel guitar accessory (altho my early prototype has two foot pegs, making it very comfortable for lap steel), but a lot of steelers also play standard guitars. I just happen to like the web site, done by Pete's wife Mary, and it's got some great pictures, so check out the photos. http://www.guitarstools.com/
I'm hoping this is not taken as crass commercialism (I already checked it out with another forumite); Pete already can't keep up with the demand.

Charlie, remove the "R" and replace it with "L."

Very nice product, idea, presentation, and website. Very well thought out.

I've never sat in that stool but I feel comfortable already.

One question, and I'll ask it here as others may have the same question. Is a back rest possible?

Very comfy; Pete has an upholsterer do the tops with Harley memory foam; makes your a** very happy.
Many modifications have been suggested, resulting in the classical height, the accessory cradles, and a collapseable stool has been commissioned. Backrest has been suggested as well; get in touch with Pete, he's always interested in custom adaptations.

Ricky;
I gather you mean 'class' commercialism rather than 'crass'? I'll pass that along to Pete. Unless you mean something else...

Yes, "Class" is what I was inferring. By all means, please pass that on.

I will, Howard, and Pete thanks you. But question: why don't steel guitar stools have backs? However, I can envision a Cadillac model, with back, cupholder, bar pocket, ashtray--the Comfort, Texas, model, for those of us who like to sit back and listen, and come out of repose for the occasional lick.

Hey, isn't that the job of the guy who ascertains the "guaranteed analysis" part on dog food labels?

I tend to sit up straighter with a low back rest, or support may be a better term, otherwise I have a tendency to hunch.

I knew somebody would get around to that; we've been talking to Pete about his soft stools for a while.

Is Kerrville near Dallas? With Carroll Benoit's booth and the Paul Beard booth being there, those pickin' stools (the noun, not the verb!) would be right at home.

still pretty funny
