I'm Excited!

Post by erik »

Well, in a last ditch effort i tried recording again before i went ahead and purchased a sound card and modem online. This time it worked. Turns out i was trying to record with the windows recorder instead of the software that came with the PCI audio. Now, the question is: What sampling rate should i use? It's default is 44,100. I have many choices. I'm recording in stereo. Also, keep in mind i save as a wav. but will need to convert to mp3. Any advice will be appreciated. I'd like to get some music up on soundclick.com

erik,

44.1KHz will be just fine. If you broke down that sampling rate, it translates to sampling all the way up to 22.050 KHz. The human range is stated at 20 Hz to 20KHz.

I'm not so excited anymore. I can't seem to get it to record in stereo. Even though it says it is. Stereo is important to my sound. Looks like i'll still have to buy a card. Well, i have a 25 second mono .wav clip of one musical idea of mine. Now to find a place to put it.
[This message was edited by erik on 09 August 2002 at 09:03 AM.]
