HP Printer is Dead

Post by Kenneth Kotsay »

Both my HP 540 injet & HP 672C injet printers died on me in the last two weeks. Before my 672c went dead I tried the older power pack from my HP 540 (after it stopped all together) and it worked fine on the 672c. I tried different locations (wall sockets) throughout my house and when I hit the start button nothing happen.

Last night the same thing happen to my HP672C printer that died on me too. I purchased a HP Apollo 2200 color printer and tried both power packs from the previous printers and they both worked fine on the HP 2200.

So what's up with my printers???

Could it be a switch or circuit board inside the printer?????

Are they worth fixing??

The HP 540 is 7 years old and the HP672c is 3 years old.

Hi Kenneth

A shot in the dark - could you be getting power surges that are frying your printers? Seems to me unusual that two printers would go dead on you in two weeks. The HP power pack might have surge protection built into it, but who knows?

I've had no problems with my HP 697C. Also had an older 5xxC that is now in the hands of my stepdaughter, and still working as far as I know.

Fixing - Given the relatively low prices of new inkjet printers, I think it would be cheaper to buy a new one than to pay for repairs to an old one.

Hope this helps,

Lou

Today I went to Brands Mart and purchased a new HP-920C printer.
Last night I went to a computer repair store and was told to forget about trying to repair the two printers, it's too costly. Looks like the two HP printers are headed for the land fill. Funny, they both came FREE when I purchased my 2 computers.

Why does everything break down in the computer world.

My compaq "buy this computer and get the printer free" printer broke within a matter of months. The reason they give you these printers for free is because they can afford to make them very cheaply with the minimum of quality control. "Free printer?" I say, you get what you pay for.
